The Design team at Zikodrive have recently moved into new premises, marking a new and exciting time of development for the department at the start of 2026!
With the team growing, and more lab space needed for designing and testing as demand for custom motor controllers grows, it was time to find more space and better facilities to keep up with the demands of this area of the business. Working in partnership with our current Landlord on the Topland Country Business Park, we were able to source what we needed in close proximity to our other unit, bringing minimal disruption to our current projects. A big thank you to our dedicated staff who helped with the move and the setting up of equipment, which ensured a smooth transition ready for the start of 2026.
Our new unit has given us the opportunity to create a larger, open-plan office space for design collaboration, alongside more separate offices and facilities for staff members. The additional footprint means significantly more space to increase our testing capability, with a dedicated test facility purpose-built to support the development and validation of our motor controllers as they move through design. We've also been able to set aside a dedicated meeting space, giving the team a proper environment for design reviews, project discussions, and customer meetings — away from the hustle and bustle of the lab and office floor.
The new premises also include separate office space for both our management and engineering teams, giving each function room to focus while still keeping everyone close enough to collaborate easily when a project calls for it. It's a layout that reflects how the department actually works day to day — close-knit where it matters, but with the space to think and work properly when heads-down time is needed.
A big thank you must also go to Thornber's on-site maintenance team for decorating and making the building feel brand new and ready to move into.
