Surface Mount and Through-Hole Assembly

Our SMT lines run DEK solder paste printers with Hawkeye inspection to catch misprints or clogged stencil apertures before they become defects, and four Samsung pick-and-place machines offering up to 60000 components per hour, handling everything from 0201 passives to large or odd-form parts. All SMT sub-assemblies are checked by AOI and IPC-A-610 trained operatives to ensure no defects.

For through-hole work, Ersa wave solder machines handle single-sided volume production, while selective soldering covers double-sided SMT boards or more complex through-hole requirements. Smaller batches, where hand assembly is more cost-effective, are handled by our fully IPC trained production team. For higher volumes, AOI machines are used to check for shorts, insufficient solder or other potential defects. Where small runs or prototype batches are required, IPC-A-610 trained staff can inspect manually under magnification to ensure your requirements are met.

Conformal Coating and Potting

Where a product needs environmental protection — from humidity, dust, vibration, or chemical exposure — we offer acrylic conformal coating, from simple single-sided spray applications through to more complex multi-stage programmes. As with other processes we offer a manual or fully automated options here, depending on the requirement. We acn also advise on specific masking and tooling needs if necessary. 

For assemblies that need vibration resistance or improved thermal performance, we also offer polyurethane potting, a service we rely on regularly in our own power electronics work.

End-of-Line Testing

Every production motor control unit is fully tested before it leaves our facility. Depending on the product, this includes functional testing, power-stage verification, communication interface checks, environmental validation, and firmware loading — carried out using automated processes wherever possible, so testing is consistent and repeatable across every unit in a batch, not dependent on which technician built it. As a result of this, our team is well versed in EOL test development, jig building and process optimisation. We can therefore advise on available options for any CEM / subcontract products and also work to ensure that we deliver the best possible and most appropriate value for your requirements.

Traceability and ERP-Managed Production

Our production is managed end-to-end through our ERP system, giving traceability from incoming components through to finished, tested product — work orders, component lot tracking, and production history are all recorded as standard. Where specific test data is needed for QC, these can be incorporated into EOL testing to ensure you have a direct record of critical test data tracked directly against serial number. 

For customers with their own quality or supplier-audit requirements, that means we can trace any unit back through its full build and test history and our QC team are happy to support you with any application or product specific requirements you may have.

Quality Control

We're ISO 9001 certified, and all manufacturing staff are trained to IPC-A-610, with Class 3 capability available where required. Wherever possible, quality control is automated rather than manual — Hawkeye and AOI systems inspect assemblies at multiple stages, catching issues before they reach end-of-line test. However, we're open to working with you to support any application or product specific requirements you may have and can integrate these into our production processes. Where CoC reporting or other similar documentation is needed, this can also be arranged.

From Prototype to Volume

We support products through every stage of their life, from early prototype and pilot builds through to established medium volume production, with Design for Manufacture support available to help optimise BOM cost and yield as a product moves from low volume to scale. Our production facility continues to grow and there are further plans in place to install a new high speed line for higher volumes.
